RACING RETURNS TO CHARLTON

Racing will return to Charlton on Monday 17th of August.

As the racing landscape continues to evolve during this difficult period we look forward to welcoming participants back to our track.

All safety protocols will be strictly followed – unfortunately still no spectators will be allowed on course.

It’s a start!

RACING AT CHARLTON SUSPENDED

Harness Racing Victoria has now implemented a new racing calendar which has moved to a regional based model in an effort to minimise travel and contact between racing participants.

It is hoped that this will enable our industry to continue to be operational in a safe way for all.

Charlton will therefore not be hosting race meetings for the foreseeable future but has been allocated Bendigo as our racing zone. (Central)

All racing participants will be allocated a track to race at according to their postcode, and the strictest of protocols will be followed on course during meetings.

The Charlton Harness Racing Club applauds this initiative by Harness Racing Victoria and wishes all participants and our own members the best during this difficult time.

Stay safe and positive and we look forward to better times ahead.

CHARLTON CUP – CLOSED MEETING

The Charlton Harness Racing Club Committee after careful consideration would like to advise everyone that this Sunday’s Cup meeting will now be open ONLY to trainers and owners.

Whilst this is an unfortunate and hugely disappointing decision to come to, we feel it is was the only responsible conclusion as we consider the welfare of participants, members, on course patrons and the residents of Charlton.

We look forward to welcoming members and guests back on course in the near future and thank all those who worked so hard to plan and prepare the course so well.

CHARLTON WINS BEST CUP SECOND YEAR IN A ROW

Best Country Cup - Charlton

It was a great Vic Cup Night at Melton for Charlton winning the Best Cup Day for the  medium sized clubs at the Country Club Awards. Whilst an unusual occurrence due to ongoing works at Charlton Park to have it at Melton, the support of members who turned out in droves to support the club ensured a fantastic night . Well done to all. To win this event for the second year in a row is a terrific boost to our club and fills us with confidence moving into the future.

Thank you also to the group who attended at Melton for the surprise win!

Charlton Cup 2019 At Melton A Great Success

Pacing Cup winner

The Charlton Cup 2019 was a great success at TABCORP Park Melton as over 200 members from all points of Victoria came together to celebrate the club’s flagship day. Whilst the new complex ‘at home’ goes up it was a terrific opportunity to introduce TABCORP Park to many who have never been there before.ll

Along with HRV Media Team led by Cody Winnell, the club fully embraced the Punters Party theme and were thrilled to have the support of the Carrol Brothers representing Team Charlton and the Goodform Boys Jason Bonnington and Blake Redden representing Team ‘The Rest’.

Charlton would like to acknowledge all those who attended and tried their luck on the night – without you there is no industry for us all to enjoy and we hope to plan more events that cater to your participation on course.

The competing Punters Clubs concept gave the room plenty of interest as Cody and Toby McKinnon kept everyone up dated on each teams progress throughout the night. Well done to Team Charlton who took the honours on this occasion – perhaps a rematch may be in order?

The pre event of the St. John of God  Bendigo Hospital Bubbles In The Bush was a tremendous success for the Women’s Cancer Foundation and Team Teal with everybody joining in the spirit of the auction, ably conducted by President Joe Thompson and Past President John Tormey. With the help of many donated items from TABCORP Park, Rich River Golf Club, Five Mile Building, the Bubbles Syndicate,Ames Australasia, Rex Theatre and the East Charlton Hotel the total that will forwarded help research into Ovarian Cancer is $7800.

We were also very happy to receive a generous donation form Inghams Farm Charlton of $500 – fantastic to have locally based businesses coming on board to help us build this event into something very substantial that our club can be proud of. Thank you to all who supported the raffle held in the street and on the night, won by local Lisa Bruns.

Thanks goes to our major sponsor St. John of God Bendigo Hospital who have for the third year running supported this important community event.
